Riddhi Siddhi Charitable Trust (RSCT) carried out a distribution campaign in Dahanu, Maharashtra. The purpose of the initiative was to support education for rural children in the hinterlands of the state. The activity involved more than 150 children from diverse backgrounds in rural areas. The program was supported by the Zilla Parishad School of the area. The whole campaign was facilitated by volunteers from RSCT who acted for the benefit of the underprivileged children.
Education is the most important tool that can break the cycle of
poverty. It provides job opportunities for the future and helps
underprivileged families take care of themselves. But for people in
rural areas, it is difficult to get an education. Take, for example,
the case of school days for children during heavy rainfalls or other
extreme weather conditions. This not only hampers their education but
also reduces their confidence to continue it.
One of the other major challenges for the education system is the
regular availability of nutrition and healthy meals for children. Due
to poverty, children in rural areas are not able to get nutritious
food. This keeps them impoverished, and lastly, it affects their
growth and learning capabilities. This is one of the reasons the
rural-urban divide is growing in India. Along with food, school
essentials are necessary for the children to keep learning. This lack
of access also increases the challenges for the children to stay
educated.
The presence of the challenge of education for rural children is the
reason for national NGOs like Riddhi Siddhi Charitable Trust to carry
out distribution drives. As mentioned above, the drive was carried out
in Dahanu for rural children. The drive consisted of school bag
distribution, nutritious meal provisions, and raincoats for the
schoolchildren. This campaign is the need of the hour for children to
support their access to education. It is also important for India, as
children are the future architects of the country.
