The Kumbh Kitchen of Riddhi Siddhi: Where There Is Seva, There Is Prosperity

Om Gan Ganapataye Namah.

Every sacred beginning in Sanatan Dharma starts with Lord Ganesha, Vighnaharta, the remover of all obstacles. And by His side stand His divine consorts, Riddhi and Siddhi: Riddhi, the goddess of prosperity, and Siddhi, the goddess of spiritual fulfilment. Wherever Ganpati Bappa is honoured, they follow. Wherever they dwell, no home ever knows hunger.

Now, with Bappa's blessings, the holiest gathering on earth is about to begin.

Once in 12 years, when the planets take their destined places, the Kumbh Mela awakens. It is the place where the drops of Amrit fell from the heavens during the Samudra Manthan. It is where the Devas themselves are believed to come down to bathe alongside humans. And this 31st, as the sacred flag is raised in the Dhwajarohan, that divine door will open once again.

Millions will come. Sadhus who have lived in Himalayan caves for years. Grandmothers who have saved for a lifetime for this one holy dip. Young families carrying their children on their shoulders. Farmers, labourers and devotees from villages whose names we will never know. They will walk for hours in the dust and the cold, and they will arrive tired, hungry and still smiling, because they have reached the feet of the Lord.

Our Shastras say that where food is honoured, Riddhi and Siddhi make their home. Annadaan is not charity; it is worship. When a hungry devotee receives a warm meal, Maa Annapurna herself is pleased. When a sadhu blesses the hand that fed him, that blessing travels through generations. Our elders always said that the food we give away is the only wealth that follows us beyond this life.

"After a puja to Lord Ganesha on the day of the Dhwajarohan, the first fire of our kitchen will be lit. From that moment until the last day of the Kumbh, that fire will not go out. Every day, pure and sattvik bhojan will be cooked with devotion and served with folded hands to every devotee, sadhu, pandit and pilgrim."

With this faith, Riddhi Siddhi Charitable Trust will begin its Annadaan Seva at the Kumbh from the day of the Dhwajarohan. This kitchen belongs to you as much as to us. Your seva is the fuel that keeps its fire burning.
